It's getting close to Christmas, and you really, really need some extra cash. Unfortunately, finding a job that will get you the $500 you need has been really hard. Lucky for you, the Wild Time Forest needs a treecutter - and you've been given the job, no questions asked!

Maybe you should have asked some more questions.

Because, as you learn the more trees you cut down, these have an...unusual defense mechanism. For every tree you cut down, there is a nonzero chance of you getting transported to another place and time for an unspecified number of hours. Maybe you'll get back in time to finish out today's shift, maybe you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Because, after all, you don't get paid if you don't at least finish out the week. You're going to come back tomorrow and keep going.
